About the Event
Have you ever wondered how to introduce sex and sexuality into your clinical practice? Do you want skills to become more comfortable when a patient or client discusses details or asks questions about their sexual practices? This workshop will be an introductory course on being comfortable talking about sex. We will explore provider discomfort, common myths, and simple strategies for letting patients/clients know it is safe to discuss sex in their practice.
At the end of the workshop, participants will:
- Have a better understanding of their comfort level with sex and sexuality
- Learn common myths that may interfere with providing adequate sexual health counseling/therapy
- Learn simple strategies for making your practice more sex-positive
Renée Burwell, LCSW, CST is a skilled psychotherapist and facilitator with a specialization in sex therapy and education. Her practice, Pandora's Awakening, offers services and educational outreach to help destigmatize and provide access to mental and sexual health services to help individuals live unapologetically authentic lives. She is also AASECT’s Mid-Continent Representative, an active member of the Association of Black Sexologist and Clinicians and the Women of Color Sexual Health Network, is an educator for Bedroom Kandi and serves as the Executive Director for TNASH.
TNASH is an AASECT certified CE provider. This event is eligible for 1 AASECT approved CE. Participants are responsible for knowing accrediting organization’s continuing education standards.
