About the Event

How long-term, reversible birth control can change the lives of women, teens, and families

Jenny Matthews will discuss the impact and consequences that unintended pregnancies have on mothers, children, families, and the whole community. We will cover the statistics related to neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) and provide education about ways to prevent unplanned pregnancies. Not only will you learn about long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), but you will learn about a community resource helping women get a step ahead by tearing down all barriers that would prevent a woman from choosing LARC.

Participants will:

1. Understand the impact of unintended pregnancies for all of those involved.

2. Have a better understanding of the opioid epidemic and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome.

3. Learn about the most effective forms of contraception.

4. Understand the A Step Ahead model that allows a woman the opportunity to access 3-10 year contraception free of charge and be seen as a community resource and referral option for partners in our community.
