About the Event

This training provides information that all communities need to understand what human trafficking is, the risk factors and lures used by traffickers, vulnerable populations, and how human trafficking impacts your community and our state. It also explains the current human trafficking laws in Tennessee and what is being done on local, state, and federal levels to eradicate human trafficking and decrease demand. You will also learn what to do in a situation that indicates that you may be witnessing trafficking that helps law enforcement and minimizes your risks

Presenter bios:

Chelsea Nixon, LMSW is the Care Coordinator and Education Specialist at End Slavery Tennessee. Chelsea received her graduate degree in social work from Loyola University Chicago with a specialization in Leadership and Development of Social Services and has worked in a variety of settings with clients experiencing trauma, including crisis intervention services for LGBTQ individuals and technical assistance for agencies serving runaway and homeless youth. In her spare time, Chelsea also works as a doula for expecting moms in the Nashville area.

Ginger Manley has recently retired from her professional life as a nurse psychotherapist and sex therapist with 50 years experience practicing and teaching in the field of sexual health. Her specialties included sexual addiction, sexual trauma, sexual dysfunction, and sexual boundary issues in health care practitioners. She was one of the original founders of the Nashville Alliance For Sexual Health.

Lunch and a Certificate of Attendance will be provided for attendees. Varying accrediting bodies allow for the certificate to be used as a CEU. Participants are responsible for knowing accrediting organization’s continuing education standards.

All trainings are eligible for .5 continuing education units with The American Association for Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists.
